The Jamo A102HCS5 speakers are small but well made and come fitted with wall brackets, but while the satellites’ terminals are big enough to accommodate 4mm plugs, the plugs and attached wiring won’t clear the brackets without fouling the wall behind, so you’ll probably have to use bare wires anyway. Stands are available as an optional extra.
The Jamo A102HCS5 subwoofer is more a supplementary bass output device than a true sub. Turn it too high and you get an attractive additional warmth, coated in a rather sluggish texture, and little real subterranean depth.Mating a 200-watt amplifier to a quality 8-inch woofer gives this unassuming Jamo A102HCS5 subwoofer some serious clout. Although powerful, its slim width makes it easy to place, as does the auto power on/off function.The lightweight mid-range balance, which is part of the system voicing irrespective of the way it’s set up, speech comes across as relaxed and intelligible.

It is compact in size: the player is full width (430mm) but shallow, while the speakers are small and discreet and the sub woofer is not as big as it could be (mercifully – are they ugly beasts or what?). In black it fits nicely into the heap of other kit, and the fascia and display of the player is pleasingly restrained with a minimalist LCD during playback. This cut down approach does make some of the options via the remote a little less than intuitive, so some manual reading is required.You can (should you so desire) add wi-fi dongles for both internet connection (Youtube, proprietary content, etc) and rear speaker cable replacement. Firmware upgrades can be done via writeable disc, you won’t be handicapped by not having a net connection. Overall, for the price, I’m really pleased with the Panasonic SC-BT230EB-K.
